Watching Field of dreams again
Hello Saints, First a quick reminder that tomorrow is the bishop's annual visit to Trinity. We will be receiving two people into the Anglican Communion as well. We encourage everyone to make it to church this weekend if you can. As an added incentive, there will be a tasty feast for coffee hour afterwards! So for movie night this week we watched an older movie, Field of Dreams (1989). This was one of my favorites as a young adult. I actually owned a Laser Disc copy (if you

SUMMER READING SUGGESTIONS
As the season for vacations begins, Jamey and I thought we’d make some suggestions for summer reading. These are books we love, or authors we love, in both fiction and non-fiction. We also got some suggestions from our son and our Bishop!

...that right kind of feeling
Hello Saints, I recently listened to a in interview with author and Anglican priest The Rev. Tish Harrison Warren. She is the author of two amazing books, Liturgy of the Ordinary & Prayer in the Night. She is also a columnist for the New York Times. Both Tracey and I would highly recommend her writings, and, well, she also happens to be one of Tracey's friends. Warren's latest offering is called What Grows in Weary Lands: On Christian Resilience. The book was the subject of

Listen, I stand at the door and knock
Beloved in the Lord, Trinity Church is greatly blessed by the work of glass artist Rachel Barnyak, who designed our beautiful stained glass that hangs above the chancel. Her work was inspired by the famous painting called, The Light of the World, by William Holman Hunt. Painted in the 1850’s, this piece is the artist’s reflection on Revelation 3.20: Listen, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and

Jesus is so "with us"
Hello Saints, First, as a follow-up to those who are wondering how our daughter is doing after the bus accident on Sunday, she is emotionally shaken but, miraculously, physically well. She even has returned to work. I don't have much more to say on that other than we are still emotionally processing the horror of the accident and the joy that she is both alive and, all this considered, relatively unhurt. It truly is a miracle. We had a great discussion tonight at supper clu

...so that we may walk in His paths
Beloved in the Lord, Last Wednesday at the Contemplative Prayer Service, (7 to 8.30pm every Wednesday, all are welcome!) we read part of Isaiah chapter two. A line from verse 3 caught my attention: He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths. I wonder what the paths of the Lord look like. Are they springy turf dotted with delicate wild flowers? Are they smoothly laid stones, so perfectly engineered that even a blade of grass cannot divide them? Or are the path

Of keeping hope in chaos
Bono in Belfast to help Good Friday Accords Passage Hello Saints, It's great to be back from our vacation camping out in a Yurt at Keystone State Park. We had a wonderful time resting, eating, going for walks, and listening to/reading books. You might notice i didn't say playing cards. That's because TRACEY had fun playing cards. I was 1-6. One of the little joys was that I got to listen to the latest EP release by U2, Easter Lily. It's actually the second EP the band has r

Of Gambling Addiction
Hello Saints, First, I want everyone to know that so far our Spring Alpha Course has been going very well. The first week we had 9 guests from the community. They enjoyed it enough to invite others so that this week we had 14! Next week is the last week new guests can join so if you know anyone who was on the fence encourage them to come next Friday and check it out. The Atlantic Magazine's cover story this month snagged my interest. It's no surprise why. It's by staff writ

Of Real Life Theology
Hello Saints, First, a quick reminder that this Friday is the start of our Spring Alpha Course. If you have someone in your life who is interested in our church or in what Christianity is all about, this is a great event to invite people to. It starts Friday at 6:00 PM and goes till 8 PM. Childcare and a meal are provided. One of the things I love about our movie nights here at TCW is the surprisingly poignant conversations that follow the movie. Even when it’s a kids movie
