Beloved in the Lord,
As the season for vacations begins, Jamey and I thought we’d make some suggestions for summer reading. These are books we love, or authors we love, in both fiction and non-fiction. We also got some suggestions from our son and our Bishop!
The Bishop’s suggestions:
· Gallahad and the Grail by Malcom Guite ( a long poem)
· Simply Trinity by Matthew Barrett
· Theo of Golden by Allen Levi
· They Flew: A History of the Impossible by Carlos Eire
Tracey and Jamey’s suggestions:
· What Grows in Weary Lands: On Christian Resilience by Tish Harrison Warren+
o We love everything that Tish writes- see her other books as well:
§ Prayer in the Night and Liturgy of the Ordinary
· Feasting on Hope by Hannah King+
· Anatomy of the Soul by Dr. Curt Thompson
· Finding God in the Waves By Mike McHargue
· Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen+
· Surrender, an autobiography by Bono of U2.
· The City Between Series by W.R. Gingell (Jessica, a member of Redeemer Canonsburg, suggested this to us and we read all 11 books)
· The Chief Inspector Gamache Series by Louise Penny (is a favorite of many at TCW)
Our son Elijah, a creative writing major at Chatham University, suggests:
· The Traveling Cat Chronicles Hiro Arikawa (tear jerker)
· Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer (horror Sci Fi)
· The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (fantasy)
Here’s to a summer of reading!
Grace and peace,
Tracey+
